I usually laugh it off and then ask if they know P&P is a book.
._. And then when they're like: "wtf lol no! :iconimhappyplz:"
I'm there like: "....excuse me, but I have to continue my record of facepalming for the umpteenth time at your ignorance.:iconwthplz:"

.....I guess there's a reason P&P's a mandatory school read for sophomore year. xP

:iconlooolplz:

Actually I think it's a bit sad...everybody knows that Bella and Edward are book characters, but a book such as Pride and Prejudice gets forgotten?

It doesn't seem fair to me, but oh well...every new generation has it's good and bad sides, right?

This is going to sound odd, but even though the book is one of my favorite pieces of literature, ever, the characters in the movie are better than the characters in my head. When I read the book D'Arcy isn't as good looking as MacFayden (my god that smile) and Elizabeth is not as pretty as Knightley (because she has some sort of birth defect, little known fact). The characters I have in my head pale in comparison to the movie, in mannerisms, speech and emotion (to me D'Arcy was always a bit more angry and Elizabeth a bit more of a smart ass). Therefore while they couple remains my favorite literary couple, I prefer them in the movie to in the book.

Yeah, I don't mind because it IS a movie as well. I would list Lizzy and Darcy as one of my favorite movie couples, and PoP as one of my favorite movies, even though I think the book is the best without a contest. Though I thought the 1995 miniseries was ALMOST as good as the book. One of the best adaptations without a doubt.
