I will read the character descriptions and I sort of put the features on the image like copy-and-paste. However, the pictures of the characters in my mind often don't end up completely true to the descriptions, even with characters I make up (this makes me kind of depressed, actually).

Normally I picture characters according to the book, but sometimes my mind distorts descriptions or totally skips over them. Like, in The Lost Hero, Drew is described as being Asian, and I always pictured her as the stereotypical bitchy tall blonde that's in movies like Mean Girls and stuff. ^^;

Usually it's very easy for me to imagine their body, like how tall they are, the way that they move how skinny they are etc. and I can also imagine their hair and maybe their eyes, but imagining face is hard for me and so usually their features are just a blur.

"cartonish"
square, made of cardboard...?
well, if the author's exposition sucks, I guess that'd fit. :D

Usually whatever comes to mind, first.
I often have trouble picturing faces, though. It's odd.

It makes me kind of sad to know that people can't always picture characters via the book if they've watched movies based on them / etc. Like HP for instance. I mean, the actors are pretty good, but some of them I definitely picture different. Oh well.

I look at other people's art as soon as I start a book- and combine things altogther (: I have a blur vision, but then use other people's artwork to clean up the picture, you know?

I change how the book describes them. Like if a character has short hair my mind is like "NOE THEY HAV LONG HAIR!!! DERP DERP!" or if they have blue eyes my head is like "NOPE, GREEN!" :B

I always see the characters how they're described in the book, but I see them how my mind pictures them to look which can be a little different from the book's description.
