OK, Blane was way hot back in the 80's. I should know, my sister wouldn't stop talking about him! lol

It won't let me vote (I think it's because of my connection) but I always wanted her to end up with Ducky. Maybe it's because I've had a crush on Jon Cryer since I was really little, and I just think Andrew McCarthy looks like a jackass, but he actually cared about her. And also, he sang John Lennon in her bedroom. That's love.

I really want to see "Some Kind Of Wonderful" which is supposedly this movie with the gender roles switched (poor boy falls for snooty rich girl; female best friend tries to smack some sense into him). Maybe I'm biased towards Ducky cause I feel his pain.

Some Kind of Wonderful is actually a really cool film. It's among my favourite 80s flicks besides the Breakfast Club and Can't Buy Me Love. I think it's better than Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles, but of course, that's my opinion..
Anyone saw Say Anything? Now, that's a wonderful teen movie from the 80s, though it's a lot more serious than the others and it was written by Cameron Crowe. I can highly recommend it. :aww:

I haven't been able to find it anywhere, but apparently it is another John Hughes film.

It's really weird how 80s teen movies were always about climbing the social ledder, so at the end, the loser girl could get together with the rich boy (I don't like the endings of Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles... I mean, they're just... a bit empty for me), while teen movies nowadays are celebrating otherness and underdog-ness (like Juno, Charlie Bartlett, Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, Ghost World, Easy A, or the Glee series). I've been thinking about that a lot, actually, I think it's better now that geeks are the cool ones (yay for Scott Pilgrim!), even though I absolutely adore 80s teen movies. I just don't like the endings, haha. And yeah, she should have ended up with Ducky. In a 21th century version, she totally would.

The only 80s teen movie I wouldn't change at all is Breakfast Club. That movie is insanely perfect the way it is. I could watch it at least a thousand times... And its message is quite similar to recent teen movies: "Be yourself." That's what I miss from the endings of Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles.

Sorry for the long comment. I love your polls. :)

Sorry, you wrote something about geeks being cool...you need to read this book. I just finished it; it's awesome. It's called "The Geeks Shall Inherit The Earth" and it's by Alexandra Robbins...here's the link to the page on her website: [link]
