oh dood. yeah that bugs me too.

but what bugs me more is when a sequel occurs and either the the protagonist has broken up with their new found love of their life from the last movie or main characters are just inexplicably missing and yet their absence is never explained.

Off the top of my head, I remember that the sequels Speed, Miss Congeniality, Legally Blonde all did this. And they all sucked too. Well... iunno if Speed 2 sucked. I didn't watch the whole thing.
