Plus, the sad thing is, 3D is the current hot thing. Nearly all movies - even those that shouldn't be - are in 3D, so all movie prices are jacked up (it's at least $12 for a matinee showing around here - $24 when going with someone else; that's more than I pay for DVDs). Take Tangled for instance - and Burton's Alice. In both films, there were a few scenes that were good in 3D. There were more that could have been, but the companies didn't exploit 'em. For the most part, if not for the glasses/blurry screens you forgot you were even watching a 3D film. (The lantern scene wasn't even exploited as well as it could have been in Tangled. And Dawn Treader! Again: a few good 3D scenes, but there were so many that could have been brilliant that they just didn't take advantage of.)
3D is good in theory, but because it's the current thing it's not being used to its best advantage. Honestly, I'd be happier if we could go back to the good ol' days of 2D movies; I'm to the point where I'm happier just buying the DVD. Extra features (and even that's not always a given now, tyvm unnecessary 3-disc packs) and you get to see the film as often as you want.
(Honestly, the only time I'm really gung-ho on movies is my college's dollar theatre. Show 'em your student ID Friday/Saturday after 6:30P and you get in for $1.50.)

The downside: the 3D was nowhere near as cool on the DVD, 'cause you go from RealD 3D to the blue/red glasses that didn't show the Awesome as much.
If they'd start rocking 3D like JCE again, maybe I'd be more pro-3D.

But other than that, toy story 3 didn't need it, and action movies (haven't seen one but the trailers) make my head spin. Luckily I got contacts so I don't wear glasses to the movies.
It's weird, I usually don't get headaches from 3D at all though. It doesn't bother me, and sometimes I forget I have them on. It makes everything darker though : (
I think only a few movies should be seen in 3D, some movies like Toy Story 3 or Shrek 3 or stuff like that didn't need it. How to train your dragon, avatar, legend of the guardians or tangled are totally worth the money in 3D
and yes, colorblind people can see the effect correctly
