A great way that you can learn how space looks like is visisting APOD (astronomy picture of the day) [link] , i used to visit this page every day some time ago.. such pretty images and you learn pretty useless (for every day life) but interesting stuff (there was a time when i could recognize nebulas and stuff... of course i forgot most by now)

also visit this tutorial if you wanna leran how to make nebulae: [link] (i wish i remebered i had this among my favourites before i tired to make my own nebula technique here XXDD)
